With only a few days until Mother’s Day, time to find a gift is running out, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t still get Mom something she’ll really love! Skip the pre-made gift sets and jacked-up prices, and give her something that lets her know how much you appreciate her.
Mom Wants: More Time with Her Grown-Up Kids
If what your mother really wants is more of you, consider giving her an all-inclusive gift certificate for a date with her child or children. This is a great opportunity for sibling collaboration! Be specific – set a date or time frame, tell her what she’s entitled to and who will be there. Depending on your budget, you can include flowers, transportation, dinner and dessert, a movie or a show, and even a new outfit! Kind of like Mom Prom.
Mom Wants: To Feel Appreciated
Nothing makes a tireless, hard-working, nose-to-the-grindstone mother feel appreciated like a gift showing insight into who she is. Build a gift basket with her favorite things – DVDs of her favorite movies, a novel she mentioned that she’d like to read, a package of her favorite childhood candy, candles with her favorite scent, a silk scarf in her favorite color – whatever will tug at her heartstrings. Be sure to throw in a big-ticket item like a gift card to her favorite restaurant or spa!
Mom Wants: Something Shiny
If what your mother would like best is something to remind her of you every time she wears it, delicate handmade jewelry feels personal and thoughtful. It’s too late to order something through Etsy, but that doesn’t mean that unique, affordable, handmade jewelry is out of the question. These days, many small clothing boutiques sell pieces from talented local jewelers at very reasonable prices. Unless your mom is all about statement pieces, look for something delicate, like a small pendant necklace or pair of drop earrings.
