Before Katelyn leaves My Family Dentistry in just a few weeks to attend her freshman year of college at Lee University in Cleveland, TN, we want to take a moment to celebrate the time she spent with us here at My Family Dentistry.
A lifelong Halls resident, Katelyn has been a patient of Dr. Mullins’ since she was about 10 years old. When she started thinking about a career in dentistry, she approached us and asked if she could spend some time in the office.
She began working with us in January of 2012, shadowing Dr. Mullins and the staff. In May of 2012, we offered her an internship, and she’s been with us ever since!
On a daily basis, she assists Dr. Mullins as he treats patients, keeps things running smoothly during appointments and in the office, helps keep the lab clean and organized, and assists in the preparation of models. And she seems to like it – in her words, “I love it here, it’s a really fun place to work!”
We’re so happy for her as she starts her college career, and we’re glad that she’s still considering a career in dentistry. As many of you know firsthand, she’s great with patients!
When she’s not at My Family Dentistry, Katelyn enjoys all kinds of hobbies. “It depends on the day,” she says, but she enjoys hiking and fishing as well as doing things indoors.
And now, the questionnaire:
What makes My Family Dentistry special?
“They really care about every patient’s comfort; they make sure that every patient is 100% comfortable and 100% happy. [Dr. Mullins] really cares about what’s actually happening with the patient and not just about getting it done.”
What’s your favorite thing about working with patients?
“When you start a big case, and get to work with them week after week,” you see the big payoff of a new smile and “how happy it makes them!”
How can dentistry change people’s lives?
“The smile is the first thing you see when you look at a person. When they get an implant, they get a brand new smile, and their whole persona and attitude changes.”
Favorite flavor of ice cream:
Chocolate Chip
Best scar story:
“I’ve burned myself a lot with a curling iron. I have lots of scars on my hands from that; I think I have 9”
