At My Family Dentistry, we believe that everyone deserves a smile that they love. One important component of getting and keeping that smile is through cosmetic and regenerative dentistry. To get a better understanding of cosmetic and regenerative dentistry, we sat down with some of our staff to discuss how we go about its use to achieve the perfect smile for our patients.
Dental problems come in a variety of forms, some more severe than others. On one end of the spectrum there are dental implants, and on the other is teeth whitening. As a comprehensive dentist, My Family Dentistry has the tools and expertise to treat the full spectrum of problems so that no matter your needs, you end up with the smile you love.
Dental Implants
Dental implants are used to replace the roots of damaged or missing teeth. The roots of your teeth are what hold them in place, but they can grow weak over time due to a damaged tooth or infection. When this happens, implants are used to replace the root and hold the new tooth in place.
Missing teeth can affect the look and functionality of your mouth, making you feel self-conscious and avoid foods you once loved. They can also make you feel insecure and afraid of what the dentist might say. This could be due to the fear of learning the extent of the damage, fear of not being able to regain the look and function of your teeth, or a mix of both.
We completely understand whatever apprehensions you may have. As Kyleigh, one of our registered dental assistants recently explained in a Mission Minutes Facebook video:
A lot of patients who have missing teeth are afraid of coming to the dentist because they’re afraid of the unknown, of what they’ve lost, and what they might not be able to get back. We are here to help you navigate that and we do a lot of dental implants. It’s the most successful and predictable way to replace missing teeth. A lot of patients are scared and they’re afraid of dental surgery, but we have a lot of technology and a lot of new techniques that help us mitigate and produce a pain-free procedure. Most of the time our patients feel like it’s a non-event.

Invisalign
Invisalign is a form of treatment for mild to moderate orthodontic problems. With these clear aligners, we can treat bite issues and other problems without the need for traditional braces. Instead, you’ll receive a series of clear aligners under the guidance of our dentists.
We love Invisalign because it helps our patients without the need for metal wires and brackets.
As Taylor, one of our registered dental hygienists, explains in a recent Mission Minutes Facebook video:
I love Invisalign because I’ve seen it help a lot of our patients. I know a lot of people walk around and are scared to confess their complaints about their smile, whether it be the look of their natural smile or how their teeth come together. We love to do Invisalign here because our doctors really take the time to sit down with you and figure out what your issue is. Is it the look or is it the function? We really pay attention to how your teeth come together to make sure you’re not destroying your enamel. It’s not all about how your teeth look. We want to make sure you have a beautiful smile, but we want to make sure that you have a great function as well. We do this by creating custom trays that match you perfectly.

Teeth Whitening
Many people want a whiter smile, but they also have a lot of questions when sitting in the hygienist’s chair. Common questions include:
- Does it hurt?
- Are my teeth sensitive?
- How long do results last?
As Kate, one of our registered dental assistants explained in a recent Mission Minutes Facebook video:
If you’re wanting to take your smile to the next level then My Family Dentistry is the place to be.
She wants patients to know that there is little if any pain at all when you come to our office for teeth whitening.

We offer two whitening options: Opalescence and KöR Teeth Whitening. With Opalescence, you get the best at-home whitening system hand-picked by Dr. Mullins. KöR Teeth Whitening is our in-office option. It’s been our go-to whitening system since 2004 thanks to its consistent results. Together, they provide the basis for our White Teeth for Life promise.
Keep in mind that professional teeth whitening may not work for everyone. Those with deep stains due to aging or medical problems may not see as dramatic of results. Dental work such as fillings, crowns, and other artificial materials won’t whiten the same way as your natural teeth. To learn if you’re a good candidate for whitening, talk to our team!
