Clear Aligners & Braces

Achieving a straighter, healthier-looking smile is easier with SimplyClear and Invisalign.

Restore Your Strong, Healthy Smile

How does clear aligner therapy work?

At My Family Dentistry, your journey to straighter teeth begins with a consultation. It is essential to have an exam beforehand to see if you’re a good candidate for clear aligner therapy.

Dr. Austin Owen uses x-rays of your mouth, digital 3-D images of your mouth, and high resolution photography which help us plan out your series of invisible aligners. Once your exam is complete and you’ve been approved, we create your series of clear plastic aligners. Your clear aligners, either SimplyClear or Invisalign, will fit perfectly over your teeth and will gradually move your teeth into the proper places.

The secret to each set of aligners is the composite buttons that are bonded to your teeth and removed after treatment. These composite buttons help to move your teeth into the correct position by applying pressure to specific points. By wearing your custom clear aligner everyday and depending on the level of your individual needs, you’ll have the smile you love and deserve in just 6 to 18 months.

Clear Aligners

When choosing orthodontic treatment, your options are likely to come down to clear aligners and traditional metal or composite braces. You will still want to weigh the benefits of both even if you qualify for clear aligner therapy.

Invisalign and braces work similarly, using orthodontic tools to straighten your teeth and move them into the correct position. However, they do this in different ways. As we’ve already discussed, clear aligner therapy uses clear aligner trays and composite buttons to apply pressure to the right spots. Regrettably, not every patient who’s interested in clear aligner therapy will qualify for treatment.

Braces

Braces, on the other hand, require more hardware to help you get the smile of your dreams. This is usually due to having more severe orthodontic issues which can only be solved with traditional braces.

The type of braces that Dr. Owen recommends will depend on several factors, such as your age and whether you have an overbite or underbite in addition to having crooked teeth. Braces are custom-made and individual to the needs of each individual patient.

Is Clear Aligner Therapy Your Best Option?

Braces and Invisalign both are great options for orthodontic treatment. Clear aligner therapy is the perfect option if you are looking to:

  • Effectively correct misaligned teeth
  • Make it easier to brush and floss
  • Straighten your teeth discreetly

Your clear aligners simply go over your teeth to straighten them without the need for retightening. Being able to take them off makes it easier to brush your teeth as well as keep your gums healthy.

However, the biggest benefit of clear aligner therapy is how discreet the aligners are. Your clear aligners subtly realign your teeth using custom-fitted clear aligner trays. Achieving a straighter, healthier-looking smile is easier with clear aligner therapy.
