We Love Made in America

Made in the USA

These days you can’t turn on the national news without hearing about the amount of products that are no longer made in the United States. From shoes to everyday household items, it’s all around us.

Just recently, Good Morning America featured a story about how the 2012 Olympic uniforms, made by Ralph Lauren, were outsourced to China. This provoked intense scrutiny by the public and U.S. lawmakers especially now, due to the tough economic times that we are facing.

As a result, consumers should feel even more empowered to ask the question, “Where are my products being made?”

Most of us have seen the “made in” label on retail products but have you ever thought about asking your Dentist where their dental restorations are made? It’s not a common practice but maybe it should be.

Some dentists make their own dental restorations in their facility while others partner with dental labs across the country.

At My Family Dentistry, we partner with Dental Crafters – a dental lab located in the Midwest section of the United States. Dental Crafters is a full-service laboratory that focuses on providing quality restorative products to include crowns, dentures, implants and sleep apnea devices.

As a Food and Drug Administration (FDA) registered dental laboratory, they use FDA certified products and are currently in the process of becoming certified by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). Founded in 1947, ISO has published more than 19,000 International Standards that were developed by industry experts from all over the world as part of a larger technical committee. The ISO standards ensure that products and services are safe, reliable and of good quality.

The next time you visit your dentist and are considering your dental restoration options, feel free to ask your dentist where their dental restorations are made. As a consumer, it may not be a common practice, but it’s your right to know, and to ask for American made.
