4 Ways We Can Improve Your Smile

Brushing and flossing are essential for a healthy and beautiful smile, but sometimes you may need a little extra help. Luckily, we offer plenty of options to help you achieve the smile that you’ve always dreamed of. Smile makeover

Whitening is one of the most popular ways to improve your smile. We offer in-office and at-home treatments guaranteed to work. Invisalign is another, gently moving your teeth into proper alignment, making them straighter and improving your bite. Veneers are an additional solution for stains as well as chipped or misaligned teeth. Finally, Botox can help you regain your youthful look while also treating other health issues.

Whitening

One of the fastest, most effective, and cost-efficient ways to improve your smile is with teeth whitening. But with so many options to choose from, it can be difficult to know where to start. Will a whitening toothpaste do the trick, or should you buy a pack of whitening strips next time you’re at the drugstore? It’s enough to make you give up before you ever even start.

My Family Dentistry offers two great options to help you get the whitest smile possible. For best results, we highly recommend the Kör Whitening system. It’s considered by many to be the most effective bleaching system available, and we’re proud to be one of their Premier Providers. We offer Kör Whitening as an in-office whitening solution.

Hydrogen peroxide is the primary active ingredient in most teeth whitening products. These may take a few shades off your teeth, but they don’t produce consistent enough results if you want to see long-lasting change.

Kör Whitening is different. It uses a thicker gel to protect your teeth from saliva and other fluids to give you a longer-lasting whitening process. Unlike regular whitening systems which last half an hour at best, Kör Whitening lasts between six to 10 hours.

We’re also big fans of Opalescence for at-home whitening. Whitening at home can sometimes result in increased sensitivity from the gels, but that’s not a concern with this treatment. Like Kör Whitening, Opalescence uses a superior gel than other over-the-counter options. Opalescence is available for purchase in our office as your at-home whitening solution.

Invisalign

Few things can affect your confidence more than a smile you’re not proud of. This could be due to teeth that are crooked, gapped, or have some other alignment issue. Not only that, but these can lead to other health issues, such as:

Your smile is something you should be excited to show the world, and it definitely shouldn’t lead to other health concerns.

Thankfully there’s Invisalign. With Invisalign, you can get the smile you’ve always wanted without the hassle of traditional braces. Instead of metal brackets, wires, and rubber bands, you’ll use a series of clear plastic aligners to help put your teeth in the correct alignment.

We use every tool at our disposal when fitting you for Invisalign to ensure you get the straightest smile possible. This includes:

This helps us plan out the alignment process and provide you with clear aligners custom-fitted to your teeth.

Invisalign works the same way that traditional braces do. Your customer aligners fit your teeth and slowly move your teeth to the correct position over time. The aligners come in a series, slowly adjusting your teeth with each successive set. Wear them every day and you could have straighter teeth in the fraction of the time it would take metal braces.

Invisalign isn’t for everyone. They’re perfect for simple orthodontic issues, but more complex problems may require traditional braces. Schedule your consultation today to see if you qualify.

Veneers

Veneers are cosmetic shells that lay over your teeth to improve their appearance. These thin yet durable coverings are ideal if your teeth are chipped, worn down, or have discoloration that can’t be fixed with bleaching.

There are two main kinds of veneers — resin composites and porcelain. While the bonding process remains the same, there are some important differences between the two. Resin composites can be created and bonded more quickly and are more affordable than porcelain veneers. On the other hand, they may not be as durable or have a toothlike appearance.

Porcelain veneers, on the other hand, take a bit longer to make and are more expensive. The upside to this is that you get a veneer (or veneers) that lasts nearly twice as long and resembles the look of your original teeth much more naturally.

Unfortunately, not everyone who wants veneers will qualify for the procedure. The bonding process involves grinding the original tooth down to make room for the new shell, so having plenty of healthy enamel is extremely important. Tooth decay, gum disease, and fractures will also disqualify you from veneers.

Botox

Your smile is more than your teeth. It’s the way the sides of your mouth lift and how your eyes squint. Your smile is actually your whole face. But as we get older our faces begin to change. Just like stains on teeth, wrinkles and fine lines begin to appear and draw attention away from your smile.

Enter Botox. Thanks to this revolutionary treatment, you can reduce the signs of aging and put the focus back where it belongs — on your smile. With Botox, you can restore your youthful smile without the cost or permanence of plastic surgery.

Botox also has medical benefits. As the Mayo Clinic points out, it can help with:
